I have never watched the movie adaptation of this book or baka nakalimutan ko lang.
If you try to understand the title in another way, it actually asks how one child is shaped to be a grown-up. Hindi rin pwedeng materyal lang ang kaya mong ibigay kundi mula sa kaalaman hanggang sa bauitsta ay dapay mong suplayan. I always believe that books, like human beings, have gender.

And this is also not a book that I would recommend to read by everyone who can read in Filipino, especially by Filipinos. I am so glad that they fought and that we are free somewhat from the ex-president’s rule. Pero sa darating na panahon, bawat isa sa kanila’y abta boto, isang isip, isang pasiya, isang tinig. Her children never asked that of her as she always made sure that she was there for them when they needed her and she always tried to make them happy. My parents would sometimes tell us stories about it but I was never really interested, until I lkalhati in here that their fight was about the oppression and human rights violations at that time.
