Stark, bleak and recommended. A Play by Harold Pinter. Seeing this pjnter performed by Trinity Rep in harild production that went to Broadway and was nominated for a Tony helped hook me on theatre for life. It starts with the names of the patients and the illegit pregnancy of one of the residents who is supposedly impregnated by one of the staff members.
Pinter’s dramas often involve strong conflicts among ambivalent characters who struggle for verbal and territorial dominance and for their own versions of the past. It’s a bizarre piece of work very masterfully put together.
